Ankle Fusion Complete

Today, we checked in to Southeastern Orthopedic Clinic at 6:00 AM and met with doctors. Surgery started around 7:15 and took about 2 1/2 hours. Patrick was in recovery for over an hour and then they carefully put him in my car and wished us well.

He has a nerve block which will probably last for a few more hours. He has set up camp in our bedroom and has found his cell phone to be a very handy tool for phoning me in the house when he needs something.

I pray that as his nerve block wanes, that his good mood won't. We are going to try and stay ahead of the pain with the meds. He will be ten days in bandages and then go to a hard cast. If all goes well, he may be able to put some pressure on it in 6-8 weeks.
