Italy Bound

For those who know and those who don't -- it's here -it's time - I am finally leaving for Italy TODAY. I will probably have blogging withdrawals but maybe the food and wine will help ease the pain. My travelling companions will probably hang me if I insist on stopping by an internet cafe, so I'll just keep my mouth shut about blogging and keep a notebook of my journey.

Since I won't be around to share the current deals that come my way, I have a few posts scheduled. Not as many as I had hoped, because I have been without my main computer for a week and now my internet just went out at home. So, I am at a friend's posting this message.

If I find any worthy deals, you can bet I will be posting them when I return. This is the first time I have travelled with a tour group and I am excited that everything is pre-planned and I don't have to do a thing but show up.

There are lots of ways to save on travel. In my younger days (pre-marriage), I was able to travel on a budget to some wonderful countries by staying in dorms, hostels, pensions and even camping on the beaches of Greece. Actually, it really wasn't camping, it was more like just sleeping, as there weren't any rooms available on the island. (Note: I used the word "younger" - I am a little older now and require a good pillow and a bed.)

As a family, we have saved money travelling with another family to some wonderful destinations by splitting expenses. When I get back, I will make a post on two great trips we took and how we cut expenses.

Travelling with a tour group could be a new way of travel for us -- I will let you know.
