There were over 100 submissions for this edition and I am sorry I am not able to post them all. I will try and make a part two post in the next week. The post we will be highlighting today has inspired me to be even more conscientious of my spending habits.
The post was made by a young man, Luke, from the UK and he blogs at The Travellers Journey. In Luke's submission, Saving to Travel Around the World, he blogs about his day to day life and cutting expenses to reach his ultimate goal of travelling around the world.
He has been working on getting his affairs in order by paying off his school debt, creating a budget, as well as an itinerary of the places he would like to visit. How exciting is this? Does it get you motivated? It should!
Luke's approach to saving money is by sacrificing on the things he can do without. He gives great thought to daily purchases and household expenses. He may eat lunch out only one day a week instead of every day. He limits his fine dining to maybe once a month. For many his age, it is difficult to make this sacrifice but he does it all with a constant reminder of that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Luke is still a good year or year and a half away from making the journey but there is no doubt with his well made plan and his strong desire to realize his dream, he will succeed.
Today, the majority of us are saving money for different reasons, whether by choice or out of necessity. Whatever your reason, make a plan. Write down your goal - keep it out front at all times as a reminder.
I have met some really savvy savers over the past few months and have learned and shared quite a few savings tips. Let's see who else can inspire us to save today ...
