Since this great recession hit, coupon usage is up as well as the hunt for discount codes. It seems like only a couple of years ago I started hearing about retail discount codes and because I am curious by nature, I began to scour the internet and realized the savings opportunity. I do shop by internet frequently and each time I take less than one minute to research and see if there is a discount available.
I recently met Dave Jay over at
Coupon Saver who has put together a fabulous website with a lot of savings opportunities. I often repeat this old saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Well here it is folks, everything in one tidy place -- start drinking and start saving. Below is a guest post from Dave, explaining just what Coupon Saver is all about and why he developed the site.
About Coupon Saver...
"My name is Dave Jay, and I would like to share with you my site,
Coupon Saver. “Oh, not another coupon site,” I can hear you say. Well – it isn’t just another coupon site. To me, it is much more than that. Let me tell you the story of how it all started.
I never really collected coupons and I actually found it too tedious to go over newspapers and clip whatever it was that promised to give me “great discounts” and “money-saving deals.” Not that I don’t appreciate frugality -- in my case, it seemed to take too much trouble. Even when shopping online, I was getting frustrated because I felt like it was taking forever to find the coupon codes that I’d wanted to use. Sometimes, the search led to dead ends. Other times, it led to expired coupons.
So, in November 2007, I decided to create the website. Coupon Saver was my way, as some would say, of “building a better mousetrap” -- and boy, did I catch lots of retail mice with this online parmesan as a lot of people use the site daily.
I feel a good deal should never be kept secret: that’s a personal mantra. In other words, I worked as hard as I could to make Coupon Saver a website for consumers by consumers. I made it easy for coupons to be found, claimed, and clicked. I organize them all according to category and then by store. I also have a Search box on the pages to make it easy to find what you are looking for. Best of all, all the coupons are updated daily and you will never find an expired coupon on the site (unlike so many other sites).
Of course, more than coupons and codes, I enjoy promoting frugality, which is supposed to be liberating and not frustrating. So I opened a coupon blog that promotes money-saving tips and which lets writers and "Coupon Saver" users share their shopping experiences and finds. It makes the site more interactive.
So there you have it -- if you’re ready to buy something, take the time to visit the site and chances are there are coupons available for you to use. One click away. Isn’t that what consumers want? I know I did."
