Boy, I must be desperate and bored sitting here in this lobby.  I am visiting the Graveyard Mall where things go to die while my husband is in surgery.

Here are some Fruit Scoops for $1.99 (Reg. $9.99) - I wonder if anyone actually uses them or if they work. Just like I am a product junkie - I on occasion am a gadget addict. I buy gadgets, put them in a drawer and then one day I open the drawer and see what I thought was so cool and don't even remember  how I am supposed to use it.  But hey, these look pretty cool.  There is a limited supply and when they are gone, they are gone.  Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to pass today -- my drawer is full.

They look like they are made of plastic but I can't really tell - you will just have to visit the graveyard and check it out.  If you get them and they work really well, let me know and I will be jealous.

Holiday Recap

Comparing what I spent this Christmas versus last Christmas, I saved quite a bit of money and made better choices on my purchases. I did over half my shopping on Amazon this Christmas - avoiding tax as well as standing in long lines.

I was just searching on Amazon and noticed the Wild Planet Hyper Dash toy for boys that I posted for $9.99 a couple of weeks ago is now $22.82 (regular price $29.99). The $9.99 deal was what they call a lightning deal and they only sell a certain amount at this price for a limited time of maybe three hours per deal.

Today, kids have so many toys that it is hard to find something they don't already have and I was pleased with some of the unique gifts I purchased. I prefer to buy toys that are challenging, educational and fun and I was really pleased with some of the items I came up with that were a little out of the norm. I would have never taken the time to find them in a toy store and being surrounded by so many choices is a little overwhelming. I probably would have picked up a barbie or toy model.

If you have a birthday coming up, now might be a good time to take make some purchases at discounted prices and put the gifts back. Here are the Year End Toy Deals at Amazon - Save up to 50% on girls toys and 60% on boys toys. Of course there are many other items at year end prices.

I have noticed several sites out there that have found a free Gillette Fusion Razor by calling an 800 number below.

Be careful of offers like this -- there are usually terms and conditions and you could actually end up with charges on your cell phone bill unbeknownst to you.

I very seldom give out my cell phone number because there are no laws governing 3rd party charges to mobile accounts.  Your service provider will not help you get credit and you will be left to handle it on your own - at least from my experience a couple of years ago.

If it seems too good to be true, it usually is!  This one I am a little leery.  Below is the 800, if you want to give it a try.  I think I will pass.

"Free Gillette Fusion Razor" 1-888-778-3221 - This is an automated call in Spanish - Just press 2 to continue on to English.  If you try it, would love to know what they said.  I am almost willing to bet the house that Gillette has nothing to do with this offer.

Christmas Clean Up

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.  Ours was wonderful and we are not through celebrating yet.  Sunday night we will be having my husband's side of the family over for our Christmas dinner and opening of gifts.  We are frying turkeys and I can't wait.  I always hated turkey but now if is one of my favorite meals if fried.

I will be busy cooking and cleaning today and tomorrow.  I am not sure if it is the new year coming or what but I have this desire to clean, organize and throw things out - never a good sign with me - I often get rid of things and look for them a year later.

I started out my morning on an 8 foot ladder cleaning our porch fixture and sweeping off the cobwebs around all the trim.  Now I am taking a break to enjoy the last of my crab stew.

My husband's second ankle fusion surgery is December 30.  The next week will be busy getting him settled in and comfortable.  We will be staying close to the house over the next few months until he fully recovers.  I can't wait until he will be somewhat painfree or at least have some quality of life and be able to do the things he loves.  I am ready for him to get back on the golf course.  Never thought I would say that.

I thought I would get out today and check out some of the sales but since I am in my cleaning mode, I better stay close to home.  I would love to know about any great deals out there -- if you find any, let me know.  I know Target Christmas items are 50% off but I would rather wait until 75% - may not have much to choose from but I don't need much.

Merry Christmas

There has been little time to post this past week because I have been traveling and visiting family, but I am now home and ready to enjoy our family holiday and traditions.  At the moment, I am preparing a pot of crab stew that will be waiting on us when we return from church tonight.

Next, I will start to think about Christmas brunch but for now, I think I will sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee, relax for a moment and enjoy my family around me.  You should do the same!

2010 Resolution: It's Time You Gave Yourself A Raise Because No One Else Is Going To Do It Any Time Soon

So many folks have lost their jobs over the last year and a half and for those that haven't, many have not even seen a pay raise in well over two years.  If you can't bring money in right now, then you need to learn to hang on to what you have and make it stretch.

Take charge and become the CEO of your own family now.  I don't believe this dark cloud we all have hanging over our country is going to disappear overnight nor in the next year or so. The money you save couponing in the coming year, will far exceed any 3% raise you might have gotten in the past.

The US Department of Labor estimates that the average family of four spends $8,513 per year on groceries, or about $709 per month.

Couponing can cut your grocery expenses in half easily and if you are working an additional part-time job, you may be able to quit and concentrate on saving what you already have and also spend more time with your family.

You will find you biggest savings comes with being internet savvy and following sites like Savings With Sadie.  It helps to buy the largest paper in your area that carries the coupon flyers and also have a printer to print out the thousands of coupons available on the internet.  Learn to shop match ups, learn what stockpiling is all about as well as rock bottom pricing.  Items that you often pay $3 and $4 for are often purchased for FREE.

Follow along on this website and those similar to Savings With Sadie.  They are loaded with tips to cut expenses -- not just grocery but on insurance, medicine, retail, and so on.

It is not that there will be more money coming in with couponing, but there will be more staying in your wallet for other budgeted items and bills.

Start 2010 off right and set some goals.  You don't have to do this by yourself -- get your family involved.  Whether you need money to pay bills or you just want to save for a trip.  All the money saved from using coupons and following a few of the saving tips will certainly help you reach your goal.
