Eggstrafresh - Product Review

Through my association with Inexpensively, I have been asked to review Eggstrafresh.  I have never heard of Eggstrafresh but I enjoy trying new products and was happy to check it out.



I must admit, I am an "As Seen On T.V." junkie.  In the past few years, I have curtailed the need to try every product and I have ordered some that would make you roll over with laughter.  There have also been many a friend that have been the recipients of my cast offs.


Eggstrafresh does not sound so far fetched and it claims to last in your refrigerator for up to one year.  However, I must admit I was a little skeptical when I saw the funny little egg that stands only about 3 inches high. If you are like me, you may not have ever heard of it.  It looks like this...  very similar to a crystal apple I have made by Tiffany.

Eggstrafresh's claim is to keep foods fresher for longer periods of time which will reduce the waste, and of course, the end result is that you saved money by not throwing out food.

Before I received the product, I had many questions and was wondering, "what is this product made of?"  Is it acrylic, glass, plastic?  Mystery solved!  It is a polycarbonate plastic shell and contains a liquid comprised mostly of spring water with a combination of minerals along with a unique blend of natural elements.  The gist of it is that it reduces oxidation which in turn allows foods to stay fresh for a longer period of time.  Eggstrafresh neutralizes ethylene gas and other spoilage agents emitted by food products that typically shorten their shelf life.


Well here is my verdict folks.  I have been using it for about two months and believe it or not, I think it is actually working.  I noticed my fruit and veggies are lasting longer.  Maybe it is my imagination but I don't think so.  I also gave a couple out for folks to try and I just heard back from one person saying, "I really think, after two weeks, I can tell a refreshing difference."

Eggstrafresh retails for $19.95 and I am sure Bed Bath and Beyond will be carrying the product before long on the As Seen On TV wall of fame.  One egg services up to 17 cu. ft.  If you have a larger refrigerator, you may want to use two eggs.  This is a new product and I have not seen it advertised as of yet.  We are just getting a head start on giving it a try.

Harris Teeter Super Doubles Day 1

Today was a great day at Harris Teeter grocery store.  I waited until the cashier finished ringing up all the items before I gave my store loyalty card to receive store discount and it brought my total down from $141 to $90 -- then I handed over all my coupons and that really bought my total down.


Retail:    $141
Savings  $  96
Paid:       $ 45

I just had to take a picture of all the goodies I purchased and will upload later...   pork tenderloin and a few fresh veggies and 2 - 12 packs of double roll toilet paper, soy milk,  organic soup and so much more -- all name brand.  There are coupons available for tons of healthy foods and household products.

A lot of the items were either free or approximately 75% off.  There are seven days of super doubles and this is a great time to stockpile non-perishable items at up to 75% - 100% off.

Trouble Printing Coupons

Wendi over at The Freebie Blogger has solved a mystery for many of us that have had problems printing "bricks" coupons.  I especially hate it when I get the "please install printer" message.  Specific links are meant to be printed in certain browsers.  A link for Safari may not print in IE and so on.  Read an excerpt from her blog below and you may not have to worry about printer error messages again...

"The trick below is made by just changing two characters in the link.  The following is a Firefox link:

hxxp://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=ri3peuo59687503&bt=wg&o=53740&ci=1&c=GM&p=TyQrvJAY

Note the “wg” in the URL (I have put it in bold for you). This is telling you it is a Firefox link.

To make that link an Internet Explorer link, you will simply change the “wg” to “wi” or “vi”. It will take a little trial and error to determine which combination will be the fix. The easiest way to make this fix is to paste the original link into a Word document, make the change needed  and then paste the corrected link into the address bar and press “enter” on the keyboard.

If the link had a “wi” or “vi” it would be an Internet Explorer link. To make it print in Firefox, just change the “wi” or “vi” to “wg”.

You can also use this trick to print coupons in Safari. Just replace the “wg”, “wi”, or “vi” to “xs”. And to get a Safari link to print in a different browser, change the “xs” to“wi” or “vi” for Internet Explorer or to “wg” for Firefox."
