Coupon Sources

On my last trip to Harris Teeter I saved $105 in just one trip and stocked up on some great household items such as Reynolds Wrap, Cottonelle, Scott and many other name brand products that I use on a day to day basis.  It is easy to save several hundred dollars a month and for those that want to get started and learn how, I thought I would repost some of these tips -- below are just a few great coupon sources to get you started and here are past posts loaded with lots of info.

To start with, considering buying the Sunday newspaper. The Georgia Times Union and large newspapers are wonderful sources for coupons. If you are interested in purchasing the Georgia Times Union, click here.

Fliers vary by region/demographics. Many times, the same Smart Source coupon flier in Georgia may be slightly different from the flier in South Carolina. Smaller Paper = Fewer Coupons. Different demographics, different products.

Linking Up Safely On Your Blog

There may be nothing to the story I am about to share with you but anytime I get an email from someone I don't know requesting a link up, I am always cautious.

The other day, I received a friend request on Facebook from someone I did not know. We will call her Jane Doe. I did not think anything of it and just did not acknowledge it.  A couple of days later, I received an email from a Jane but not Doe - a different last name-  that stated...
"I was just checking your site http://www.savingswithsadie.com yesterday and trust me I really liked the way you have presented it. I was going through some of your article and I really found them interesting and informative. So I was just wondering if I can do something for your site. I am a content writer and I love writing articles on topic like finance, real estate, education, etc. What if I provide you with an unique article as a Guest Post or even you can publish with your name. I really don’t have an issue, after all its your website, its your hard work.  The article will be rich in content and will be well presented to you. All I would like to ask for only one link in the article. I would not charge a penny to you for the article :)  Please let me know if this sound good to you, so that I can start working on your article.   Best Regards,"
Well, the email sounded okay but I thought it strange that the person was not a bit more professional and offer website information and any links to substantiate the request.  Curious, I emailed back asking for much more information, samples of articles, etc.  Oh, one other thing, you notice the person failed to put the plural on several words which made me question the content writers English or lack thereof. I was thinking this is a  foreign scheme.

I received an email back below but edited out some of the information...
I just want to tell you again that I really liked the presentation of your website.. You have worked so professionally on it.. Thumbs up!! I have a website : www.xxxxxxxxxx.comhttp://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com (my hubby's blog).  I am from Australia. Born in US. now working in Melbourne. I write articles as a freelancer. I submit them to my clients and they publish it in their sites. Like for example : http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com and http://www.xxxxxxxxxxxx.com, and many more...  and yes I have just started Facebooking : http://www.facebook.com/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Please let me know what u think on this?"
By nature I am a curious person and have always researched anything I am about to embark on practically to death.  It only takes minutes do the research because of this great internet world we live in. The first thing I did was follow the link to the Facebook page.  Well it happened to be the picture of the girl that had tried to befriend me a couple days but with a different last name.  Maybe not so strange in todays world -- a lot of women keep their maiden name for business and married for personal.

Second, I visited all the sites she provided (hers and her husbands).  On her website which provided good content, there was nothing to indicate that the site even remotely belonged to her and next I visited her husband's website and the same thing. There was no indication of who really owned the site, except for that at the bottom of the page under contact, I clicked on it and the owner of the site is someone with an Indian name.  Since just about everyone is now on Facebook, I took my chances and cut and pasted his name into Facebook and his profile came up and his location was in India. Again, this girl's FB page network was Australia.  Of course I am suspicious and emailed her back with one or two words stating I am not interested.

I am not sure what her modus operandi was or even if she had one but she failed to present herself professionally which caused a red flag to go up.   I just wanted to share this with all of my blogging friends because I know we do like to link up and share and hopefully this will motivate you to be selective in your choices and more alert in this crazy, bizarre world we live in!

Facebook: Would You Rather Have the Opt In or the Opt Out Option?

On Facebook, would you rather have the "opt in" option to share your information or the "opt out" system FB presently has in place?  Do you even know what I am talking about?  If not, read on. Personally I would rather "opt in" so nothing is shared upon joining and I can be the one to decide how I want my information shared.

Presently, all information is automatically shared upon joining Facebook unless you are a genius and can maneuver around all the settings and controls.  I think I must have changed the option to not show my birth date in two or three different areas of the settings.  It is very confusing.

Believe it or not, millions don't have a clue and are spilling their guts all over the place and third parties are having a heyday picking up all sorts of private information.  What is really scary is all of the children that use FB and list their home addresses, cell numbers, birth dates, etc.

I thought this was an interesting article my uncle shared with me and wanted to pass in on...

Identity theft is on the rise so clean up your profile folks and protect yourselves!
